Concrete accepts unsolicited submissions from Emerson College undergraduates, including fiction, non-fiction, screenplays, and anything else you deem “prose," as well as poetry.
Our theme this year is "Labyrinth." Writers can interrupt the theme any way they wish, but for a jumping-off point, we are thinking metaphorically about getting lost, being unable to find one’s way, and complex structures literally and figuratively. How does it feel to be lost in a maze? Where might the passage you take lead?
Our submission period lasts from September 2, 2024 to January 31, 2025.
Submit up to 5 poems per reading period, with a maximum of 5 pages of poetry per poem. Submit up to 3 separate pieces of prose per reading period, each between 1,000 and 6,000 words. Please note that each piece should be submitted as a separate document and a separate submission. Note: Concrete only considers submissions from undergraduates of Emerson College.
Please include a cover letter with your submission that contains your name, Emerson ID, email address, year and major, and the title and genre of the work submitted. However, please do not include your name or any other identifying information within the document you are submitting. After receiving notification of our publication decision regarding your submission to one category, you are welcome to submit separately to the other category.
